Kinnelon assists at Riverdale brush fire

A fast moving brush fire first spotted by Kinnelon Fire Chief Gail Bresett as she exited Home Depot across Route 23 resulted in a response by Riverdale FD, NJ Forest Fire Service and Kinnelon Fire Co.  Kinnelon was requested to supply water to Riverdale units on scene who layed upwards of 1000 feet of fire hose to contain a fast moving brush fire behind Cotlass Road in Riverdale.  Since no hydrants exist, Kinnelon’s tankers brought over 7000 gallons of water on three trucks.  Tanker 33, Tanker 2 and Engine 3 delivered water directly to the scene, while Engine 11 set up a fill point at the Home Depot across the street.  Four Kinnelon members assisted Riverdale’s crews already operating on the hillside in containing and overhauling the site.  Wanaque First Aid Squad assisted with rehab.  The entire operation was over in an hour and a half.  The Record carried the story.
